Go Back to Sleep - Pitch

I am currently working on a Psychological Horror entitled Go Back to Sleep. This is the third time that I am rewriting it; this time I'm re-hauling it completely. Below is the pitch (what you would read on the back of the book, if it were published.)

Penelope finds herself thrown into a world that she cannot remember. She feels as if she is seeing the world all at once, like a baby opening its eyes for the first time. Every experience is new and frightening. She is soon to discover the presence of strange creatures that seem to be after one thing: Penelope. Her mind fills with questions that it cannot answer. The answers lay in the hands of Jacob, a man who saved Penelope’s life the first time they met. He tells her that they are survivors in this world full of monstrous creatures who have begun to take over the world. How the creatures got here is not important; the fact that they take over your mind is. The creatures need to only know of your presence in order to get into your mind and slowly take over it. Penelope finds the truth hard to grasp when the creatures can make you believe anything. She finds herself slowly falling for the man named Jacob; she knows that he is her only salvation in a world falling apart.

When an attack on the creatures goes awry, Penelope finds herself stripped away from Jacob, trapped by the creatures, and desperate to find a way out. Jacob warned her about this moment; the moment when she would be in the hands of the creatures. Her only peace of mind is when she finds another girl who seems unaffected by the creature’s mind control. The urge to fight the creatures grows every day, but Penelope knows she must wait. Wait for the moment to escape. But as each day passes, she can feel her mind slowly slipping away from her. It won’t be long until she becomes one of them…one of the creature-minds.
